Happy to be alive !!

Its a lovely winter, with the minimum temperature dipping to below zero degrees ( on the Celsius scale, that is). Amritsar is considered to be among the coldest plains in India. The nights are quite chilly and freezing while the days are pretty warm with the sun shining brightly on most of the days. I am home for the winter vacations, and the typical day starts with making breakfast, then an hour or two basking in the sun, followed by preparing lunch. Since my mother is working for a not-for-profit organisation, she seldom gets any holidays, save Sunday. So, I take up all the kitchen work including cooking, doing the dishes and buying groceries. And I actually enjoy it, cooking after all is my favourite hobby!! Once lunch is over, the late afternoons are spent sipping hot tea and reading a book in whatever is left of the warm sunshine. And at such times, one can not help feeling a sense of contentment and blissfulness :-)... I have always loved life, with all its ups and downs, but winter is one time when I truly feel happy to be alive. Be it lazing around in the sun, or walking down a foggy road, the spirit of this season touches the soul. Watching the cats grow fluffier and dogs becoming lazier makes one realize that this is the time of the year when life is meant to lived to the fullest. The heightened sense of blissfulness invariably connects you to your inner self and you find yourself introspecting more. And I tend to get "lost" much more often in winters than in any other season. Except Autumn, I believe,on second thoughts. Autumn, in its essence is more magical because it brings along the anticipation of a beautiful winter...

My First Post !!

OK... So here goes my first attempt at blogging :-) !! Actually I had been thinking of blogging from the past few days, but finally got to it only today. Anyway, its good that the date is easy to remember: 25th Dec 2009, after all it is Christmas day. And the funny thing is, I had created this account last December, and that too because of my boss, though I never posted anything. As a Bible quotation goes " To everything there is a season..." I guess, the right time to blogging has started now!!
I absolutely hated the concept of blogging until a few months ago, I preferred maintaining a personal diary. But now that I don't get time to fish it out and actually write down things, I realized it was time I started blogging.
I think, this is enough for a first post??!!??
